Bargain stores in Cebu city, Colon Street, Philippines

A reader talked about bargain places to shop in Davao and Manila.  Here is my bargain shops in Cebu.  Tell me of others you have found.

Colon is the oldest street in the Philippines. Built by the Spaniards in the 16th century, it is named oddly after the explorer Christopher Colombus whose name is Cristobal Colon in Spanish. Colombus had never set foot on the Islands. Colon used to be the main business and shopping district of the city.

Through the years of shopping here in Cebu City I have found that there are some good value Chinese stores in downtown colon area that you can save 50 percent or more on the mall prices in SM or Ayala Malls.

Denramil Merchandising

In some of the stores you can even bargain and for sure if you tell them the ameriguy sent you at Denramil Merchandising, they will give a bargain hehe I am sure you will enjoy the florescent light bulbs for 5 for 100 pesos, umbrellas about 40 pesos, school supplies, tools, electric supplies and extension cords, telephones, plastic rain coats, sports equipment, at Christmas fireworks, and at Christmas when you need to buy lots of inexpensive gifts you may find them here.  Its a treasure trove of merchandise and you will find the Chinese owner and his sons very good people if you ask for the owner when you shop.  They speak English excellently.   Just two blocks from Metro Colon department store.

If you are looking for any electronic supplies, wires, fixtures, antennas, speakers (they have them upstairs and a wide variety of amplifiers too) and you can bargain a little too nice.  It is two doors from Denramil Merchandising and on the same side of the street.  Lots of pirated dvds here on the streets in downtown colon everywhere.

Three blocks from Metro Colon Department Store and they have everything you need in electrical supplies from wires, lights, and sockets.  The clerks are not overly friendly but if you can get the Chinese owners son-in-laws  attention from behind his glass wall as he works on the computer, you will get good attention and again the prices are below Ace Hardware prices and there is some bargaining.  If your building a house this will for sure come in handy to know.

is on Colon next to the Giasano Capital right on the 01K route across from McDonalds on Colon.   I am sure you will enjoy the florescent light bulbs cheap, umbrellas about 40 pesos, school supplies, tools, electric supplies and extension cords, telephones, plastic rain coats, sports equipment, plastics, and at Christmas when you need to buy lots of inexpensive gifts you may find them here.  Its a treasure trove of merchandise and the clerks are well informed,  They have a wide variety of photo frames half the price or more of SM or Ayala.  I have never seen any Chinese owner here and they do have a cell shop inside for Chinese dual sim phones..

is also on colon, directly across from Hundred Islands but I have found Denramil Merchandising and Hundred Islands having a much better selection.   I am sure you will enjoy the florescent light bulbs, umbrellas about 40 pesos, school supplies, tools, electric supplies and extension cords, telephones, plastic rain coats, sports equipment, at Christmas fireworks.  Its a treasure trove of merchandise and the extension cords on the second floor are a good buy and they also have big speakers for sale on the second floor.
