Globe upgrades Duo to Super Duo unlimited calls Philippines

Just got a infomercial SMS today from Globe that announce an expanded service to their Duo wireless landline — Globe SuperDuo.
super duo

Subscribers of Globe Duo can now upgrade to SuperDuo for Php499/30 days. SuperDuo allows you to make unlimited landline calls as well as unlimited calls to all Globe and Touch Mobile phone nationwide.

To upgrade, you need to deactivate Duo plan by texting “DUO OFF” to 8888. To activate Super Duo, text “SUPERDUO < area > ON” to 8888. The area tag will be your code designation for the landline number (e.g. Metro Manila, Cebu, etc).

If you have remaining credits on your Duo account, it will be credited to your SuperDuo.

What is not clear is that you might also lose your original landline number because you’ve deactivated Duo. Will verify this with Globe.  This is from

GLOBE Super Duo instructionsTo be able to do that, what a post-paid subscriber needs to do is text “SUPERDUOON” [Without the quotes - Ed.] to 8888. Subscribers in Metro Manila, for example, need to add the abbreviation “MM” to the field of the text message.

If you happen to be subscribing to the original Globe Duo offer at present, all you need to do is to deactivate it by sending DUO OFF to 8888 and registering for SuperDuo in the manner described above. Best of all, you will retain your old Globe Duo-assigned landline number if you register for
SuperDuo at once. The amount you need to pay for your old Duo service will be pro-rated.
In a reversal of its earlier policy, Globe also said that SuperDuo will allow subscribers with credit limits of PHP 1,000 to register for the service.

What is the registration procedure for pre-paid subscribers? First. ensure that your account has a sufficient load balance to pay for your desired subscription plan, then text “SUPERDUO ” to 8888. For example, a Metro Manila-based pre-paid subscriber who wants to use SuperDuo just for the day
needs to type “SUPERDUO MM 35? to 8888 and wait for the confirmation text.

Post-paid subscribers who avail of SuperDuo should be aware that there is a 90-day lock-in period to this calling plan.  This promotion is good from today until January 13, 2010.

I subscribed to the super duo and what puzzles me is that I dont call any other network asides form globe and land lines. But when I checked my balance (pre-paid) money was still being deducted!

Is there anyone out there that can explain why? Do I still need to change the 0 to 238 to call a globe line?
